O River of Change

Have you noticed how the Mississippi River has changed?  A little stream has become a massive body of water coursing toward the Gulf of Mexico.

Since Minneapolis I have "locked thru" scores of Army Corps of Engineers locks and dams. Usually my little kayak is the only boat as the water goes down. Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa have all felt like "home" having lived and gone to college in this region. The Mississippi will  run free and fast in Missouri and the "South."

Robbie in Keokuk, who knows the river well, asked me, "Have you seen Deliverance?" That was a bit scarey! But as the river has changed, the friendly people have been a constant and I don't think that will change.
